Explaining Diets in Detail

Open in new windowDiets, we all know what they are, some of us love them most of us hate them and few of us have never tried one. We hear about amazing results bantered around by the celebrities like Angelina Jolie's steamed meat, vegetables and soya milk diet or Brad Pitt's low-carb, high-protein diet during his training for Troy.

There are many reasons why people eat too much or make mad food choices – this special does not try to cover the reasons, but just offers some background to some of the most popular diets available to us.

Do diets work? And how do you define the results? Is a diet successful if you just shed a few pounds or should you wait 12 months to see if the weight stays off? Most diet companies don’t hold long term statistics (over 12 months) for their success rates and it’s commonly understood when you restrict items of food it makes you want them even more. The struggle with weight loss can be a long and difficult one.

But that’s not to say all diets are bad. Losing weight no matter how it’s done can make you feel good. It can give you the confidence to start a gym program, go for a jog or head to the beach.

Nothing comes close to healthy moderate eating and a few hours of weekly exercise however I’ve tried to make sense of diet industry by researching my own Top 10 love-to- hate diets in this Create Yourself special explaining diets in detail.
