Suiting is huge this season in all sorts of forms. There are the skinny cuts, single breasted, casual and styles with multi buttons. Strong shoulders give off a defined silhouette. The key thing to watch out for it that they fit you like a glove. If you have very broad shoulders then avoid very classic British tailoring which will be hard to fit your shoulders and waist perfectly. Perfect fit means no creases or folds across the back of the shoulder line, there should be no pulling of wrinkling around the armholes the the sleeve should be to the wrist bone. Trousers should break once on the top of the shoes and taper 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch longer at the back just covering shoe and heel join. Black The catwalks showed head to toe outfits in black for this season. Greys, metallic's and bright colours are still popular but black is definitely making a come back. If your colouring is light avoid black, go for the greys instead or browns if you have a warmth to your skin tone. Colours Yellow is standing out in the shops as a big colour if you want to go down the bright route and electric blue is also still popular. If you have a soft muted colouring then the bright colours will wear you and you will get lost behind them. Instead go for the tonal trend at the moment of blended your clothing in similar tones. Knitwear It's not really a surprise that knitwear is fashionable for Autumn/Winter but there are a few new twists to look out for. Volume is big (no pun intended!) so over sized chunky knits and patterns stand out as well as gaping neckline and extended sleeves. Cardigans are still popular and the new knit jacket is ideal for when it isn't cold enough to be wearing your thick winter coat. If you work in the city and your office is smart casual save the chunky knitwear to out of work and stick to fine knits which are smarter. If your height is under 5ft 7 avoid thick oversized knits, they will drown you. Boots This season brings the return of the boot. Think stompy masculine boots such as the walking boot, biker boot and the wellington style high boot. |
