Dietary Fibre – Why It's Good to Your Body

You need solid medical advice that will help you finally make those extra fat cells a distant memory. Though every health book is touting something new for your diet plan, there is one piece of advice that has been proven to work time and time again – fibre. It may not seem like the most glamorous of diet changes, but you might change your mind once you see what your body looks like in a few weeks.

What is Fibre?


The definition of what fibre is can be elusive to many people. Fibre is basically the piece of a grain that you can not digest in your body. As it moves through your body, these particles will soak up water and then pass through your body during the excretion process. That said, it would seem like this dietary component wasn't doing too much for your body – but that's where you would be wrong.

There are two main types of fibre that you eat in your diet – insoluble and soluble fibres. The insoluble type is the kind that will pull water out of your body and help to create bulk in your stool as well as to facilitate bowel movements when you may be constipated. This kind of fibre is also quite good at hastening the digestive process in order to help things move more smoothly.


The soluble kind of fibre is something that is inherent in some foods, but can be digested in a certain way – through the process of fermentation. What happens is that this fibre reacts with chemicals in the body to change the overall chemical composition. Or said more plainly, this fibre creates health benefits when it changes in your body, rather than just helping to speed the digestive process.
