I feel most comfortable in casual clothes |

| I feel most comfortable in casual clothes, but I don’t want to look dowdy or scruffy. Do you have any advice on what I can wear in an office environment?
Work wear can still feel casual and comfortable with out looking dowdy or scruffy. One key gripe for work wear is having to wear uncomfortable work shoes but there are lots of pretty flat leather shoes around in the shops these days or smart wedges which can give you the height of heels but still feel comfy. You might initially balk at the idea of a dress but actually they are the easiest things to wear and create a perfectly matching outfit with out having to put any thought into it. Wrap dresses are very flattering and great for curvy figures. Trousers worn with pretty cardigans with cami tops underneath also create a smart but easy to wear look. Now it’s the summer cropped trousers are great with flat shoes so there is no need to feel like you have to be tottering around in a skirt and heels. The use of colour is crucial to the kind of work environment you are in. Bright colours denote fun and are best kept for out of the office if you work in the city, how ever if you are working in the creative world then they can express your individuality. As I explained in the answer to the second question, neutral contrasting colours are best for giving a high authority impression. Less contrasting softer neutrals and colours give off an approachable look which is ideal for managers when they do not have to give important presentations or interviews. |
