While you might know that reducing the fat in your diet is a good thing, you may not know the easiest ways to accomplish this goal. Most of us have grown up with some form of fat in our diets, so it seems quite normal for us to eat foods with fat. But as science has revealed the dangers of having fat in our diets, we have realised there is a need to control the amounts that we eat. Here are ten tips that can get you started right now:1. Buy less fat – It seems simple enough, but filling your grocery cart with fewer fattening items is truly the best way to reduce the fat in your diet. When you can't eat or cook fatty things, you won't eat them. What's great is that you can find many lower fat versions of many food staples in your local grocery store, helping to reduce the overall fat calories in each meal. Try to add up the fat content of your last grocery shopping tab and then see if you can reduce this amount each week to make it easier to transition. 2. Try adding flavour – When we remove fat from the diet, there is going to be a bit of flavour that is lost in the process. To help compensate for this loss, you can begin to experiment with spices and herbs as well as fruits and vegetables that have more flavour. Try adding a bit of vinegar to your meals to see if that helps you in your cooking and meals. 3. Always look at the fat content – An easy way to determine whether or not a food has too much fat in it is to check the label. If you find the fat gram content, just multiply that number by 9 and then divide the result by the total calories. You can then multiply that by 100 to get a percentage. If the number if more than 30, the item has too much fat in it. 4. Try new cooking methods – There are some obvious ways that you can cut down on cooking with fat, like not using cooking oils at all. But you can also still cook in the same way with spray cooking oil or other low fat sprays. Just be sure to read the directions as some of the sprays aren't a good fit for higher temperatures. Try to find sprays that can be sprayed into your cooking pan and then place the foods you want to cook. Good cooking methods to use are: • Broiling • Boiling • Sautéing – without butter or oil • Broiling • Baking To receive a Fitness Evaluation absolutely free and without obligation click here and a Create Personal Fitness Coach will be in touch with you shortly.
