Spring 2010 – New Season Trends

Winter is slowly releasing its grip on us, daffodils starting to pop up.....and all the new Spring clothes are in the shops. I don’t know about you but I am dying to get into them and bid a farewell to winter coats and thick socks!

Here is a summary of the key trends for women to look out for this season:

Denim
......up until recently wearing double denim was a strict no no but this season it’s perfectly acceptable! Denim jackets, shirts and dresses are filling the shops. For most doubling up might be still hard to get your head around but I am loving the idea of buying a denim shirt to wear over leggings and there are some really great jackets styles around.

Military/ Khaki......Military has worked it’s way back again so think lots of khaki, buttons and epaulettes. Wear it this season with softer touches like satin tops.

Parka’s.....very handy for rainy days and festivals Parka’s are back, this time round more feminine in softer fabrics like silk and light cotton.

Oversized, padded, stand out shoulders.......I always think of Rhianna and Lady Gaga for some reason with I think of statement shoulders, anyway they are still on trend. They are fantastic if you are a classic pear shape and need to draw attention away from your hips.

Boys blazers.....I love blazers, they were around last summer too and just look great with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt under. Be careful if you have short legs though as if the jacket is too long it will make them look shorter.

Coral and aqua.......This season is perfect for people with Spring colouring, that is light, bright and warm. I am a Spring so I am in my element. There is coral and aqua in all the shops and Accessorize have some lovely jewellery in these shades.

Pastels......As well as the coral and aqua there are many pastel shades everywhere, this summer definitely has a very feminine theme to it.

Lace and Satin.......as well at the colours the fabrics are girlie too.

Leather......there are some gorgeous light weather leather jackets out there, perfect for those chilly evenings. They are tailored, luxurious and also toughened up with studs

Cropped tops.......still in line with the 80’s theme (denim, shoulder pads, lace) there are cropped tops everywhere, use these to layer up and create contrasting fabrics, colours and patterns. Don’t worry you don’t need to show your tummy!

Sporty trousers.......harem style jogging pants and smart sporty bottoms are to be worn with heels. The word to look is slouchy and not slobby!

Clothes that last......and finally as you can see from the above there are not really any radical new trends, most of the styles that are fashionable now were also last summer. This is clearly a result of the recession, people want to buy styles and clothing that will last. People are investing in their own style and then adding those up to date touches with accessories.

Now is a great time to update your wardrobe whilst there is the widest selection in the shops and you will be fully ready for when the warm weather kicks in. Please contact me if you are interested in a personal shopping trip.

Next month we will look men’s style for Spring/Summer.

I found my colour analysis to be very useful for choosing clothes that suit my coloring. I would recommend this service to anyone interested in finding out which colour's suit them best.
