What is your intention? |
||
| When you wake up in the morning you have the power within you to choose how you are going to be throughout the day, what you are going to do and how you are going to feel. This is achieved by setting your intention.
Wikipedia’s definition of intention is: “An agent's intention in performing an action is his or her specific purpose in doing so, the end or goal that is aimed at, or intended to accomplish. Whether an action is successful or unsuccessful depends at least on whether the intended result was brought about. Other consequences of someone's acting are called unintentional. However, recent research in experimental philosophy has shown that other factors may also matter for whether or not an action is counted as intentional. Intentional behaviour can also be just thoughtful and deliberate goal-directedness.” Your intention is what your focus is for that day. The idea is to set your intention in the morning and then be that throughout the day. Rather than just let stuff happen to you and your negative feelings react you can control them by focusing on what your intention for that day is. For example what would your day be like if you were to choose to be peaceful for the day, to focus on being peaceful in everything you do? Or you might wake up and have a day ahead you are not particularly looking forward to but what would like be like if you chose to be playful instead of, perhaps, resentful?
