Getting Back Into It!

It’s October.....that only means one thing, summer is well and truly over (sob!) and it’s not long til Christmas (eek!). Now is a great time to assess how you are doing towards you goals for the year, you know those things you were so busy thinking about in January/ February?! No doubt the summer might have taken over and they might have been pushed to the side for a while. There is still time to make them happen do not fret, here are my 5 top tips to get back on track:

1. Be kind to yourself.
It is totally normal to get distracted from goals sometimes and regress. Do not panic! The key is to reassess your goal, is it still want you want? If yes then move on to next tip.

2. Revise your plan. If you made a plan previously, recheck it, it might need dates adjusting now . A new fresh plan will help you feel inspired again and work out how it will be possible to still achieve it in time. Break it into manageable mini milestone goals, for example into monthly chunks.

3. Read your goal daily to make sure it is firmly planted in your consciousness. Goals stimulate a part in our mind called a reticular activating system, this is the part that when something is in our consciousness we start to notice things that relate to it more. For example when you decide to buy a car and you spot this new model that you’d really love. Then suddenly it seems like everyone is driving one and in the exact colour you want! When you read your goal every day you bring into consciousness what you want to achieve so you will naturally start to notice more opportunities that can make it happen. The law of attraction says when you focus on what you want the universe will put things in your way to help you get that.

4. Build momentum again. Pick something today that you can do to move you towards your goals and do it, make sure you do at least 1 action step each day to move you in the right direction.

5. Tell people what you are working towards. By telling people close to you what you want to achieve they will hold to you account to achieve them, because you know they might ask you about them in the future. It also makes goals feel more real when you speak about them.

Most of enjoy working towards your goals! Goals are there to give you a direction and focus. Be careful of being attached too much to an exact outcome, you never know what twists and turns life throws at you and whilst working towards them something even better you never imagined might crop up!!

Ah…the start of a new year, a blank slate from which you will drastically improve your well-being. This is the year you will finally lose 10lbs, find your ideal career, improve your love life and get rich. Sounds plausible, right? Wrong! Don’t do it, don’t set yourself up for failure! We do this to ourselves every year. We make these grandiose New Year’s resolutions at 11:30pm on New Year’s Eve only to have broken them by mid-Jan, which of course makes you feel like a failure for the rest of the year. Stop the madness!
