Re-Energise Your Life!

Do you sometime feel lacking in energy, or perhaps that life is passing you by? It’s very easy to feel a bit stuck in a rut sometimes whether it’s in your work life, relationships, health, image, personal development or any other area of life. Here are a few sure fire ways to put some fresh energy into your life!

What makes you happy? Write a list of 50 things (yes…50!) that make you smile, laugh, get excited, jump for joy and feel happy. Then plan into do at least one of those things a week!

Mix it up! For two weeks break every habit, cook different meals, sleep on the other side of the bed, walk a different way to work, go to different bars, basically anything that you would normally do……do something else! This really works your brain and gets you thinking creatively.

Ban caffeine and sugars! I sense you recoiling in horror….. we often use a quick cup of coffee or a chocolate bar to pick us up but as soon as you perk up then you have to come down. It takes a bit of discipline but once you have gone past the cravings your energy is so much more constant without it. Try replacements such as an uplifting herbal tea, seeds to snack on or fruit which gives you natural sugars.

Eat food that gives you energy. There are all kinds of food that are said to boost your energy such as seeds and sprouting alfalfa and mung beans. Raw food is fantastic for you as it still contains all the nutrients which get lost in the cooking process. Every day have a fresh juice, this is an easy way to help get your 5 a day. Make your meals as colourful as possible to ensure you are getting a good mix of all the nutrients. Slow release foods such as oats and brown rice are far better than more processed white flour foods that give you a high then a big low. Try out taking a super food supplement such a Spirulina or Chlorella.

Clear out your wardrobe. Get some new energy and life in your wardrobe by giving it a good clear out, get rid of clothes that no longer represent the real you. Often we hang on to old pieces that have memories or we just can’t get bare to get rid off but over time we change and develop and sometime our old clothes just don’t reflect the new changes. Have you ever had the sensation of putting on something old and when out not feeling quite yourself? Unless you still absolutely love something - find a new home for it. Plus getting rid of old stuff makes room for fabulous new items! Clothing swap parties are fun to arrange with friends after having a good clear out, your unwanted items might just brighten up someone else’s wardrobe.

Set new challenges. A sure fire way to get those juices flowing again it to set yourself a challenge or a goal that get’s you totally excited at the thought of achieving it. What would you love to achieve before the end of the year, what is one thing that would really excite you or even maybe scare you a little bit but afterwards you would feel so proud and happy with yourself. Give yourself a deadline and get planning on how you are going to achieve it.

Are you happy in work? Is there something new to learn there? Is there a promotion you’d love to achieve? Or perhaps do you feel like you are in the wrong job? Consider what you need to happen to make you feel excited about going to work again and put this into action.

Get moving! An easy way to re-energise yourself is to actually get moving physically, yes......exercise!! Exercise does not have to be boring or hard! Think of something you would actually enjoy for example dancing, swimming or yoga? Setting yourself a challenge such as a long distance run (eg a 10K) will force to into action to being able to run that far and the challenge of achieving it will overtake the feeling of actually exercising! The easiest exercise is one that doesn’t feel like exercise, where you are just enjoying it and focusing on something else for example with dancing it’s learning the moves and moving to the music, yoga could be relaxing, focusing on the breathing/ getting the positions correct and running being able to run 10k without stopping.

Laugh and have some fun! Be a bit silly, laugh with friends, go watch some comedy, do anything that makes you laugh and smile on a daily basis.
