| Very soon we will be able to start ditching our thick winter coats and warm woolly jumpers to start wearing our lighter clothes again. February is the perfect time to start thinking about refreshing your wardrobe in time for Spring as the shops are full with the latest collections. You might not feel inspired to shop this season yet but you won’t regret it when we suddenly have a lovely sunny Spring day and you can slip on your new outfit straight away!
Following are some of the key trends you will notice in the shops this season; Style trends The Body Con Dress. Think Herve Leger bandage dress – not for the faint hearted, only wear if you have no lumps and bumps!! Asymmetric necklines. One shoulder only..... great if you have strong shoulders and to visually narrow really broad ones. Acid Wash and Frayed Jeans. The Boyfriend and high waisted flared style is also still popular. The Printed Shift Dress - Prints are big this season and the classic shift dress has been updated with unusual prints. Geometric Prints – great for people with a straight angular body shape. Coloured Draping. Fluid fabrics in contrasting colours were used on the catwalks, use the /draping on the parts you want to hide. Over sized tailoring - Large tailored jackets and loose harem pants. Be aware of making yourself look bigger than you actually are in this look, if you have curves be sure to still show them off with nipped in waists and well fitting clothes. Tweed jackets - Chanel has updated it’s classic tweed with bold brush strokes. D&G used nautical inspired tweed with navy and white stripes. High waisted shorts. Shorts are still big this year, this time round they are high waisted and looser around the thigh. Scalloping - Scalloped edges were all over the catwalk, on hems and on shoes. A different way to add a soft edge to clothing if you have a contoured figure. Jumpsuits - Jumpsuits have been slowly making a comeback over the past year and now they are here in full force. Best to try them on before ruling them out altogether, they can be extremely flattering if you get the right fit and style. The Mini length is still everywhere. Fringing on skirts and dresses - Think flapper style. Lots of fun but be wary of the horizontal lines making you look wider than you really are if you are quite curvy. There is still the maximalism trend of wearing a mixture of textures, patterns and embellishments. Colours The key colours to experiment with are: Nude tones – great for light colourings. If you have depth you your colouring mix them up with some darker shades. Orange – only for people with warm undertones to their colouring. Neon Pink/ Shocking pink – be careful of buying a pink that “wears” you, if you have a soft muted colouring some of these pinks might be too over powering for you. Purple - in all shades so ensure you pick the right on for you. Gold – for people with warm undertones only. Accessories Accessories are a quick and easy way to update your look, here are a few to have a play around with: Extreme Heels Floral Hair pieces Big necklaces Graphic and Geometric patterns on accessories Classic bags, like the Chanel quilted bags with gold chains Big glamorous cocktail rings Wide belts For further information on this article please contact Louise.
