How to get out of a rut and go for your dreams!

A New Year is always a time to review where we are at in our lives and what we would really like to make happen in the year ahead. We all have at least one thing that we would love to achieve, whether it’s a short term goal or long term life dream. It’s common to create New Year’s Resolutions but how many of us actually stick to them? Why is it often hard to really commit to our goals and do anything to make them happen? Following is a quick step guide to help you get out of a rut and start working towards what ever you want in your life.

Sometimes we might have a vague idea of what we want, for example “more money” or a “better life”, but we are not really clear on how we’re going to do it and can easily take the very slow route of going all around the houses trying various things and might get there or might not. Click here to receive your free downloadable audio seminar and PDF on how to set successful goals and prevent them from failing now!

[b]1) Write down what you want. The process of actually putting pen to paper and writing what you want to achieve is the first step. This is because the process of writing covers all of our most important senses: we feel it through the process of writing plus feeling what it will be like to achieve whilst thinking about it, we hear it in our minds through our thoughts and we see it on the paper. Also, to write it down we have to be really clear about what we want too. Sometimes it’s the not knowing exactly what we want that stops us from doing anything.

2) Tell people about your goals. By telling friends or family about your goals it will help you to feel more determined to achieve them because you know they might ask you about how you are getting on with them. In effect they will be holding you to account as they will be interested in hearing if you have got them or not. This gives you an extra pressure to really want to make them happen.

3) Read the goal every day. Once you are clear on what you want read it and think about it every day. In our minds we have something called a reticular activating system, this is why when we buy something like a new dress or car we then see the same one everywhere. Once our goal is in our consciousness we will then start to notice opportunities or gain ideas on how to make it happen.

4) Be in ACTION! Action is the key to make things happen. You are not going to get anywhere just sitting round thinking about it. Plan your goals; think what you need to do each month/ week/day to move you towards them. Anytime you feel stuck or find yourself procrastinating think “what is the one key action step I can take to get me started again” and DO IT!!

5) Get emotional about it. Write a list of 10 reasons why you must achieve the goal and 10 consequences if you don’t. This will drive you to really want to achieve it!

6) Make a decision to take responsibility for your life. We often spend our time blaming others for not getting what we want or making justification why we haven’t done anything about it. “Not enough time”, “Not enough money”, “Too busy”, “Too tired” “Haven’t got the skills”, “Not experienced enough”, “He wont like me doing that”, “They wont approve”, “I wont get to see them”, “Once we have X then I will do X” – any of those sound familiar? Today make a decision to take control of your life and make your dream happen.

7) Create an affirmation. Affirmations are positive statements of what you want to believe about your self or have. By repeating them over and over again they form a new mind pattern or belief that we are already what we want. It is totally possible to change the way we think, our minds are malleable and can be taught to think how we want them to. Create an affirmation telling yourself who you are being to achieve your dream or that you have the dream. For example “I am a successful XX, I create it easily”, “I accept myself”, “I am healthy and full of energy”, “I have a new X it comes to me easily”, “Money comes to me”, “I attract money”, “I am moving to X, the process happens smoothly” etc

8) Get a life coach. A life coach will be 100% dedicated to you achieving your dream. They will help you plan it and coach you along the way to making it happen. They will work with you to breakdown any limiting beliefs or destructive behaviour that are currently holding you back. You will develop a new understanding of life and exercises to deal powerfully in any situation. Contact us for a free session to set your goals and see how it works.

As the temperatures dip, it seems that most people just want to hide away until the sun returns. But when this happens, you might find that your waistline is expanding more than you like. While it may seem easier and even more reasonable to be less active during the colder months, there are ways to maintain your fitness and your figure even as the hours of darkness outnumber the daylight.
