What a great day to run!

Today I was one of the 800(ish) runners who participated in the London Pride 10km Run and Create Yourself was a proud sponsor of the event which took place in Victoria Park, East London.

Personally it was a great run for me, owing to the flat surface and good conditions (and I would like to think my own training program had something to do with it!) I was able to cut 5 minutes off my personal best.

The London Pride Run is an annual event managed by the London FrontRunners raising money for Stonewall. Stonewall was founded in 1989 by a small group of women and men who had been active in the struggle against Section 28 of the Local Government Act.

Section 28 was an offensive piece of legislation designed to prevent the so-called 'promotion' of homosexuality in schools; as well as stigmatising gay people it also galvanised the gay community.

Today's boutique run brings dedicated runners and beginners alike together in a friendly and supportive environment. It's great to see people thanking each other at the end for their help throughout the course, be it with words of support from passers by or just someone to set the pace.

I'm impressed with my own effort and the effort of everyone around me and I'm already looking forward to the next run in a year's time.

Congratulations to everyone who took part today.

At the end of the session I felt very empowered and ready to make changes to my life. The steps were broken down by Louise and so felt very achievable
