What Is Aerobic Exercise?

The word ‘Aerobic’ literally means ‘in presence of oxygen.’ Aerobic exercise is also known as cardio respiratory exercise or cardiovascular exercise as it involves the main aerobic system of our body- the heart, muscles and the lungs.

Aerobic exercise is done at reasonable intensity in the beginning and then the speed or rate of the exercise is increased gradually over a definite time period. When you increase the intensity of your exercise, the heart begins to beat faster and your breathing rate also increases. As a result, the blood circulation in your body shoots up and more oxygen is sent to your muscles. When more oxygen is circulated to your body tissues and muscles, more nutrients are distributed, more calories are burnt off and more energy is created in your body.

That’s why, after doing aerobics you feel more energetic and refreshed. Brisk walking, jogging, dancing, and cycling are some of the best examples of aerobic exercise. Usually, an aerobic exercise must be done for 20 to 50 minutes and for three or five days a week.

The benefits of doing aerobic exercise are immense. When you do aerobics regularly, it increases your body’s ability to absorb more oxygen which is required in many important metabolic processes in our body.

Also, aerobic exercise helps to increases our immunity against various allergies and diseases. Research on aerobic exercise shows that it helps to strengthen the heart, body muscles and lungs. In fact, even a weak heart can be gradually strengthened with regular aerobic exercises.

You can do aerobic exercise at lower intensity for shorter duration, or you can do it at higher intensity too. Whatever method you apply, you will get lot of advantage from it.

One of the best things about aerobics is that it is enjoyable and easy. You don’t require any special training. To track your progress, you can simply keep a log of your exercise sessions. Write down for how much time you exercise in each session, how many days a week and so on. Unlike yoga and other forms of exercise, you can do aerobics while watching television or even while listening to your favorite music.

It is also one of the best kinds of exercise to keep your muscles strong and fit. This helps to keep your body flexible, fit and younger. In fact people who do aerobics consistently remain stronger even as they grow older. Regular aerobic exercise is one of the best ways to prevent heart diseases, blood pressure and diabetes

Aerobics are also popular among people who keep strict watch on their weight. The faster pace of aerobic exercise helps you to lose weight easily.

Studies have shown that aerobics provide another important benefit of improving your mood and increasing a sense of well being. How? Well, aerobic exercise stimulates our brain to release ‘feel good’ hormones like endorphins which improves your mood and feeling. That’s why aerobic exercises are one of the best methods to beat that stress and feel more energetic and happy. Thus with aerobic exercises you get many immediate as well as long term health benefits.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm very pleased with the dress, which I think is just right. I would never have found a suitable outfit without you and the experience of looking by myself would have been disagreeable, whereas this afternoon was great.

Sure it’s really just a greeting card-induced holiday, but admit it, February is synonymous with love. This is the time of the year when we pay particular attention to our hearts and the people who fill them with love. While I’m a big fan of love, that shouldn’t be the only reason you think of your heart. Your heart is the most important muscle in your body: once that’s gone, your done. Like any muscle, to keep your heart strong and beating for years to come, you have to exercise it, consistently.
