It Pays To Be Nice - Positive Energy & Stress

In the interest of avoiding a tired adage, I’m not going to talk about how many muscles it takes to frown or anything, but, let’s face it: negativity is downright draining. Not only that, but you’ll eventually come to believe negative thoughts and speech, and who needs that? Instead, let’s look at ways to reduce your stress by surrounding yourself with positive energy.

Talk to Yourself in a Positive Manner

If you spend years talking down to yourself or thinking of yourself in a negative manner, eventually you’re going to believe it. However, this means that the opposite is also true. Make an effort to talk yourself up, and start experiencing the effects of heightened self esteem right away.

Play Nice

Gossips and rumor-mongers that have only negative things to say about others will drain you. Not only is it difficult to keep coming up with a response to such people, but you will also lose precious peace wondering what they say about you when you’re not around. Life is simply too short for such energies- avoid them. If you cannot avoid a talker, take a minute right now to brainstorm 3 or 4 phrases you can use to change the conversation. Eventually, they’ll get the hint.

Give Back

The feeling you will get by helping others is altogether unmatched. Even a small contribution to the world around you will increase your positive energy flow and help you to look at the world in a different way. One caveat: if taking on yet another volunteer project will cause you more harm than good, skip this step entirely!

Forgive and Forget

Have you been slighted? Me too. We all have. In this case, the old adages are your best medicine: time heals all wounds, and the best revenge is to live sweetly. Try it, you’ll like it (trust me!)

You’re probably thinking to yourself, seriously, strength training? Lifting weights? What’s the point? I only have a short time to workout I want to sweat and burn as many calories as I can and move on. I used to think like that too. I would always choose a cardio activity over weights; I never saw the benefit of lifting weights until I learned the truth: there are so many benefits to strength training. In fact, strength training is one of the most beneficial things you can do to keep yourself healthy and fit.
