Fashion for Spring 2008 is very similar to last year with bright colours, florals, frills and mini’s. Following is a list of some of the main trends to look out for ...
BowsAdd a touch of femininity this season with a bow. There will be bows on everything this season, on shoes, dresses, customised on tops and as accessories.
ArtLook out for artistic prints on clothes such as sketches, brush stokes, water colour effects and scribbles. Something to have a bit of fun with!
EspadrillesNatural looking shoes will be popular this season including espadrilles. They lovely with floaty feminine dresses and great with jeans or denim shorts.
FloralsThe trend for florals is continuing, remember when wearing a pattern to take into consideration your scale. If you wear a print that is too big for your size it can over whelm you, if you wear one that is too small it can make you look bigger.
GrecianGrecian style is simple, beautiful and elegant. Look for soft column dresses, floaty chiffon goddess gowns, silk jersey toga tunics and flat gladiator sandals. Perfect for those with a slim straight figure.
Neon and Electric ColoursThe bright colours are staying this season so enjoy playing around with them. If your colouring is soft though be careful not to wear anything too bright especially near your face, instead experiment with a bright accessory like a bag or shoes instead.
MiniMini dresses and skirts and still filling the shops. If the thought fills you with dread you can always try wearing one over jeans or trousers. Otherwise there are plenty of other lovely styles to try such as the hippie look….
Ibiza HippieEnjoy this relaxed laid back look of billowing maxi dresses, embellished tops and gowns and ethnic jewels.
AfricanA new trend this season is African inspired fashion, look out for tribal prints and bold African inspired jewellery.
Ruffles, ruching and tullePretty, feminine, romantic ruffles and ruching is a continued theme on skirts and dresses. Tulles are also not restricted to the ballroom and ballerinas, a tulle petticoat can add a playful touch this season.
VictorianaAs last year the Victoriana fashion is still popular, so the shops are still full of lacy frilly tops and dresses in muted shades of silk and satin.
YellowYellow is the big colour this season, be careful selecting the correct shade and tone for you. If you have a very cool skin tone avoid very warm yellows go for a very icy lemon or an acid yellow. Some colourings just don’t look right with yellow at all so really assess the colour in the mirror before you buy.
WingsButterfly and dragonfly prints have been around for a while now but you might notice more of them in Spring on dresses and bags.
