Haymarket, South of France and some sad news this month

In August we run our first day seminar at the stunning Haymarket Hotel, Piccadilly London, which was a real success. The morning was spent setting goals, working through negative beliefs to create new ones and assessing our value systems in life. In the afternoon we looked at how important your image is and how to really convey the real you through what you wear. We also has a great talk from Michael on fitness and nutrition. The day really was all about creating yourself!! We will running one again before the end of the year and will keep you posted! If you are interested in going on the contact list for when we start selling tickets please do drop me a line from here.

Yahoo Answers - my new obsession

I have recently found a new on-line toy I can’t seem to tear myself away from. It’s Yahoo Answers - it's my new obsession . I stumbled across it while researching a client question, signed up and now spend perhaps a little longer then I should answering questions on mass about Health & Fitness.

If you’re familiar with Yahoo Answers then stop by and say hi, my profile name is mstaddon. It’s a fun community and I’m happy I’ve found it :)

Diets - do I love them?

Over the past month a lot of people have been speaking to me about diets. Asking what I thought of them, tell me what they think etc etc. I guess it might be because it’s getting close to summer.

All this talk has made me really think where I stand on the matter. Do I agree with food restriction in order to achieve calorie reduction (a regular diet) or do I believe that addressing the core reasons why people over eat is the best solution.

The past month has been filled with the Tesco / Cancer Research project for which I am part of Gok Wan‘s team. We have been visiting Tesco Extra’s all around the country offering free style advice and life coaching sessions.

Wii Fit – Personal Trainer or fun game?

If you’re in England now, you’d be part of a tiny minority to not have heard about the latest craze to sweep the home health and fitness industry. The Wii Fit – a personal training program designed to increase your health and fitness at home.

I’m a gadget man and a Personal Trainer so of course I had to try it out and what better day to do this then on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The Wii Fit comes with a pressure sensitive mat, DVD software and uses the original wireless controller.

NLP, Brahma & Gok - all in a day's work!

Since my last blog all sorts of interesting stuff has been happening! I went to a fantastic weekend NLP seminar run by Chris Howard which I recommend to all of you. It is an introduction to all his other courses but you do some powerful work whilst you are there such as letting go of limiting beliefs and emotions that are holding you back and also breaking your connection with people who no longer serve you in your life (see more about this in my article this month on Letting Go).

February was London Fashion Week

The end of February was London Fashion Week where I investigated new ranges and labels to look out for. Some of the ones to really stand out were Gabby Harris, beautifully soft cashmere, 60’s inspired, dresses in lots of pretty colours, Delforte Denim, funky 70’s inspired 100% organic cotton denim from Delforte in San Francisco, Evie Belle, Emma Chapman Jewellery and Raquel Moreno’s Paradise collection of jewellery.
I've returned from my adventure to Colombia

Happy New Year! I have just returned from my adventure to Colombia, it truly is an amazing place. In the months before leaving for my trip nearly everyone I spoke to warned me against it, which confirmed the general point of view of visiting Colombia is that it is a place of kidnappers and general danger. This belief could not be more wrong and I think it is time to get rid of this outdated impression of such a beautiful country. The people were warm and welcoming and are keen to invite people to their country to show that the situation has dramatically improved now. Obviously there are some places to avoid in the big cities but there are places you wouldn't wander into alone at night in London, anywhere you go has it's dodgy areas.

At the end of the day our bodies will win!

It would be hard to find someone who's not overindulged in one way or another recently. No matter how you celebrate the many events of December at some stage we all generally overeat, over drink, over stress and under sleep – just to name a few!

Often in the days following our overindulgences we hit the gym hard or run a little longer etc just to make up for it - penance for their sins people tell me. Sometimes I want to do it too - just to get away from people or have a bit of "me" time. But it's often the worst thing you can do to your body.
